| Junior Tours is proud to offer these Master Classes in Business, Acting, Improvisation, Musical Theatre and Vocal Training. All of our Master Classes are taught by skilled, working professionals and offer students an opportunity to explore theatre arts, while gaining valuable skills, in a fun and creative environment. Classes are taught in NYC and are usually an hour and a half in length. Other lectures and workshops can be developed to meet the special requests of the program leader or school.
IMPROVISATIONAL SKILLS
Our most popular workshop, Improvisation Skills offers students an opportunity to expand their imaginations and strengthen their creative talents. In this workshop students will participate in a series of exciting theatre games, which involve the whole group, while fostering individual expression. This workshop is valuable for students of all ages and experience.
MUSICAL THEATER
This workshop offers students an overview of basic Musical Theatre skills. Students will be guided through a vocal and physical warm-up and will review basic acting techniques. The students will learn the music and choreography of a Broadway song, to be presented at the end of the workshop.
ACTING SKILLS
This workshop focuses on the “basics of acting.” The students will have an opportunity to learn and review the fundamentals of acting and then apply them to the material they will be given in the workshop. This workshop is valuable for students of all levels, with an interest in the craft of acting.
AUDITION TECHNIQUE
Auditioning is a challenging and necessary part of the business of being an actor. This workshop focuses on cold reading technique and the art of making an impression in an audition situation. Each actor will receive new material, present it to the panel and gain helpful feedback on their work. This workshop is valuable for students intending to pursue a career in acting or who are preparing to audition for school projects or University theatre programs.
MUSICAL THEATER AUDITION TECHNIQUE
This workshop focuses on the audition skills necessary to compete as a musical theatre performer. Each student will prepare a two-minute monologue and sixteen bars of a song, to be presented in the workshop. The students will get feedback on their work, along with valuable information for successful auditioning. This workshop is especially valuable for those students intending to pursue a career in Musical Theatre or who are preparing to audition for school projects or University musical theatre programs.
MONOLOGUE WRITING
This workshop offers students an opportunity to develop an original monologue. Students will be guided through a series of exercises, culminating in the creation of an original piece.
COMPOSING & WRITING FOR MUSICAL THEATER
This workshop was developed to give young singers an opportunity to work with a composer in the creation of new material. The students will write an original song and will put together a short original musical, to be presented at the end of the workshop.
VOICE
This workshop focuses on vocal training. Students will learn basic voice technique and will be guided through a vocal warm-up. The students will have the opportunity to learn a group number from the Broadway repertoire or from a show of their choice (to be arranged in advance).
CHORAL WORKSHOP
This workshop is designed especially for choral groups and is taught by a world renowned New York based choral teacher and director. Students will participate in a series of warm-ups and will work on a choral piece, either from the Broadway repertoire, or from their own group repertoire (to be arranged in advance of the workshop). This workshop is valuable for groups of any level of experience and is especially helpful for groups preparing for an upcoming choral performance.
MAKE-UP TECHNIQUE
Students will learn about the possibilities of make-up design and techniques used to achieve certain looks (such as “old age” and “bloody/bruised”). They will observe the application process and have the opportunity to practice their application skills.
COSTUME DESIGN
This workshop teaches students how to design costumes for stage and film. A professional New York costume designer will take the students through the process of sketching an idea, to pitching it to the director, to creating the design. Students will have the opportunity to sketch their own designs and share their work with the group, offering them the experience of a professional Broadway costume designer.
BUSINESS COMMUNICATION
Communicating with confidence and clarity is vital to succeeding in business. Through a series of exciting and energizing interactive theatre games, students will learn powerful methods of sharing information and communicating effectively in business. These exercises will allow students an opportunity to explore the power of persuasive communication, in a fun and encouraging environment.
