It was 1967. Lyndon Johnson was President, the Beatles released Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Junior Tours was established as one of the only companies providing overnight educational tours. Marty Abrams, a social studies teacher in Brooklyn, New York, was looking to bring to life the lessons he was teaching in the classroom. He believed a trip to Washington D.C. would provide a deeper understanding of the distinguished institutions his students were reading about. He was right; the trip was a huge success.
Upon returning home, the students, parents and administrators were all thrilled with the benefits gained from the experience. Realizing that this same hands-on adventure should be accessible to all teachers across the country, Marty established Junior Tours. Concentrating first on Washington D.C., Junior Tours later created customized student tour packages to New York City, Boston and Philadelphia.
